There are various methods of worship in the Indian tradition. The worship of Vastupurusha (the deity of the structure of the house) is significant in the worships related to house. An authoritative volume namely ‘Viswakarmaprakasika’ describes the contexts and methodology of Vastu worship. Of course, there are many ancient books on this subject. Stone-laying must be done traditionally if the inmates of the house were to live happily and peacefully for a considerable time. The entrance into the new dwelling must be done according to the tradition.
The deity in the temple is consecrated to imbue it with divine power. Then only those who reside in the new house will live with positive energy and the benedictions of the Almighty.
The quinqelemental body which is made up of the five elements contains the soul consciousness which we call ‘life energy’. Similar is the house-warming ceremony that brings dynamism to the new house just as the consecration does to the deity in the temple. This house-warming worship shall be invariably performed while entering the newly constructed house or a purchased house.

A book namely ‘Dharmasindhu’ describes the mode of the worship. The first entrant of the new house shall be an indigenous cow along with its calf which removes possible defects. This is the reason why the elders laid the rule that the owner of the house must enter the new house only after the entry of the cow along with the calf. This must be followed as far as possible. The mother cow is venerated as the holy animal which is the abode of all celestials. So its initial stepping in heralds the entering of all divinities! Usually the mode of worship involves the exclusivity of the ritual of the Higher Person (Urdhva purusha), the mother earth (bhudevi), directions, Ganga devi, and the fire god. The worship that involves the owner of the house includes Ganesh pooja, punyahavachanam,vastumantaparadhana, agnipratishtha,the ksheerannam must be prepared by boiling milk separately for the worhip and offered.Rice flour balls, jiggery, nine kinds of grains namely wheat ,rice,toor dal: chickpeas:. moong beans, white beans: Black sesame:.must be given as an offering on the roof. vastu (ganapati) homam, worship to the nine planets, Griha kalyanam, Satyanarayanaswamy vratam must be performed. Pacificatory rituals and homams with due caution must be performed to remove the incompatibilities in accordance with the house design – related defects and the owner’s horoscopes.

Vegetarian food, and Annasanti programmes must be undertaken for the relations and friends. Traditional lamps must be lighted in the two twilights The family members of the owner must sleep in the new house compulsorily for three days. If the abovementioned things are performed according to the tradition, the owner will enjoy comforts and happiness.
