TTD dispenses with AngaPradakshinam on Fridays

Tirumala January 26th, 2014: In what is termed an unsavoury decision, the TirumalaTirupatiDevasthanams (TTD) has resolved to annul the conduct of AngaPradaskshinam on every Friday at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara.

AngaPradakshinam is a pious act performed by the devotees wherein they roll over their bodies in wet clothes around the sanctum sanctorum in fulfilment of their prayers.

Perturbed by the flash protest the devotees staged demanding the undeserving darshan privilege last Friday inside the hill temple, the TTD is learnt to have arrived at such a callous decision.

Though the TTD had long back dispensed with the practise of extending the darshan privilege for the devotees performing AngaPradakshinam on Fridays, it was nevertheless subjected to great discomfiture with the unwarranted act of the devotees who also resorted to near remonstration inside the temple.

It was against this backdrop that no AngaPradakshinam tokens were issued on Thursday. While so, there is no change in the darshan privilege for the AngaPradaknisnam devotees on the remaining days of the week.
