Today’s temple round-up: Houston Durgabari Society, Houston
Houston January 23, 2014: A vivacious and devoted community of Houston which totally dedicates its services to Maa Durga – The Houstong Durga Bari Community. It is the only temple in North America devoted to the goddess of power.
The Bengali led Hindu community to provide a platform for cultural, educational, athletics, and youth programs. From basketball to cricket, Bengali School to Kala Bhavan the community has it all. Kala Bhavan caters to the artist ensconced in the hearts of the youths - it teaches painting, classical vocals, tabla and classical dance. Durga Bari has become a community hot spot. Surajit Dasgupta is the President, Mila Sengupta is the Vice President, Abhijit Bhattacharyya is the Secretary and Bhajendra Barman is the Treasurer of the committee.
The temple conducts monthly religious discourses, weekly pujas, and celebrates all Hindu festivals. Durga Puja is celebrated with high spirits and majesty by over 3000 devotees. The temple timings are from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday the timings are 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Daily the Sandhya Aarti is performed at 6:30 PM.

Merge onto I-45 N via the slip road on the left to Dallas
Take exit 48A for Interstate 10 E towards Beaumont
Merge onto I-10 E
Take exit 770A to merge onto US-59 S and Continue onto I-69/US-59 S
Take the exit onto Westpark Tollway W
Take the TX-6 N exit to Toll road
Merge onto Old Addicks-Howell Rd
Continue onto Addicks-Howell Rd
Turn right onto Schiller Rd and the Temple will be on the left
