Sankranthi Beach Festival concludes at Kakinada
The three-day ‘Kakinada Beach Festival’ came to a close here on Monday. Minister for Stamps and Registrations Tota Narasimham was the chief guest at the valedictory function that was held in a colourful manner. Lauding the district administration for conducting the festival successfully for the second consecutive year, Mr. Narasimham felt that the festival replicated the rich cultural heritage of the district, besides highlighting the tourist attractions in the district.
He said that the government was keen on promoting tourism and was allocating huge funds for the tourism development activities. Collector Neetu Prasad, local elected representatives and officials of various departments were present.
The turnout to the festival was good on the third day, as compared to the first two days.
Cultural performances were held on two daises, in which one stage was exclusively allocated to the students and local artistes. Famous artistes from the cinema and television entertained the public with their song, dance and comic skits. Puppetry, ‘Puli Veshalu,’ Tappeta Gullu and other folk arts were performed on the sidelines of the festival.
