Multicultural youth festival inaugurated

Guntur January 09th, 2014: Students presenting the cultural diversity of the country at a multicultural youth festival held in Guntur on Wednesday.

A scintillating performance by students who showcased the rich cultural diversity of India marked the inauguration of the two-day multicultural youth festival here on Wednesday. The festival is being held by Ministry of Youth Services.

The myriad hues of the country were captured by the dances performed by students.

Be it Manipuri, Assameese, Meghalaya and Kerala, the performances were a tribute to the nation’s diversity.

District Collector S. Suresh Kumar said that festivals like these would pave way the way for removing differences and promote equality. He also advised the students to take part in the festivals and get to know society better.

Good participation

More than 200 students took part in the festival which has 11 events like folk dances, folk songs, one act plays and many more.

Joint Collector VivekYadav said that the State government had taken a decision to give an opportunity to students of other States to participate in the programme which was useful for improving one’s personality too. Students from Kerala performed a dance in the programme.

Additional Joint Collector K.NageswaraRao, STEP CEO K.ChandrasekharRao and project director of Dwama, S.DilliRao were present.
