Kakinada  January 09^th, 2014:: Grandeur and cultural extravaganza marked the 15th Yanam People’s Festival being held here on Wednesday. Yanam town wore a festive look with the cultural activities being performed by cultural troupes from various parts of the country. The event is jointly organised by Yanam people, Pondicherry Tourism Department and Agriculture Department. 

The Yanam Festival is celebrated every year to recall the days when it was a French colony the small place surrounded by East Godavari district. 

The cultural activities on Wednesday made the spectators spell bound.  Anchor Manasa from Kakinada enticed the youth with her magical voice. The Victory Event, performed by Victor from Visakhapatnam and fashion shows organised by Kolkata, Mysore, Hyderabad and Maharashtra artistes enthralled the audiences.  Yanam police made elaborate security arrangements for the festival. 

 Meanwhile, Union Minister Narayanasamy speaking to the reporters, lashed at Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy for non-utilisation of funds. He alleged that the Government failed to utilise even 40 per cent of funds allocated in the budget. 

 Narayanasamy alleged that Rangaswamy is more concerned about consolidating his power rather than the development of the region. 

 MLA Malladi Krishna Rao, Yanam Administrative Officer S Ganeshan, SP Purushottaman, Commissioner Murugesan, Agriculture Joint Director Sivashankar and others were present.
