Chilkurubalaji temple flooded with Devotees

Hyderabad 3rd January, 2014: It took around 2 hours for darshan at chilkur on the first day of the New Year.

There has been a huge rush of pilgrims to worship Venkateswaraswamy at chilkur in Hyderabad. Two barracks in the temple were filled and the devotees stranded in a huge line spanned for 2 kms. Temple officials stopped the 11 and 108 pradakshinas. Temple managing committee convenor Mr Gopala Krishna and the priest Mr MV Rangarajan reported that around 1 lakh devotees came for darshan on the New Year till evening 5 PM. Temple was opened early dawn at 4’o clock and various rituals namely balaji’snakshatra, kumbha, karpuraharathi pujas were performed. Special pujas were also performed in the neighbouring Lord Shiva’s temple. The linga was well decorated which caught every one’s attention. Special parking arrangements of APSRTC buses were made around 1 km away from the temple premises for the convenience of people. Four different parking slots were provided near himayatnagar for autos and other vehicles. Cyberabad police were on high alert at chilkur keeping in view of the inflow of the worshippers. Police Protection was supervised by local inspector S.Ravichandra, SI sydulu, ASI anthireddy.

Impressive Annamacharyakirtana concert

At the first barrack of the temple premises, Tirumala tradition music band organized annamayyakirtana concert which which impressed every one. The concert lasted for the whole day from morning 8’o clock till night without any break. Local Arya, vysya Food annadaanasatram organized food donation program. Few devotees volunteered the activities in order to help the temple staff to handle huge crowds. Around 50 members worked as volunteers. Temple programs were supervised by the managing committee chairman MV soundararajan.
