Kumbhabhisheka mahotsav at Arasavelli Sri suryanarayana swami temple

Sabarimala , December 31st, 2013: Mahakumbhabhishekam was organized in Sri suryanarayana swami temple at arasavelli in Sabarimala district of Andhra Pradesh. The Arasavelli temple was renowned for the unique Sun God statue and the historical importance with it. This ritual is a part of the maha surya yagas conducted during this festive season. Deities from all over the state and from Orissa came here in huge numbers to witness this maha kumbhabhishekam which will happen once in every 12 years. This ritual will begin in the early morning with panchmrutha abhisheka followed by the maha darshan. A small glitch happened during the ritual as the visakha saradapetham head Sri swarupananda saraswathi swami expressed his dis-satisfaction and anger on the way things were organized by the endowments department. He alleged that the endowments department has been looting the temple trust money in the name of the ritual. He demanded the kumbhabhisheka to be held in all major temples across the state for every 12 years. However, the ritual has been a visual treat for all the devotees flooded to witness and offer prayers for this pushkar kumbhabhishekam.
