Madurai, October 16, 2013: Special funds have been earmarked by the Madurai Corporation for laying paver block paths and tar roads in the South and West Masi Streets in the city.

A sum of Rs.54 lakh will be spent for laying paver block paths and Rs.1.8 crore for laying tar roads.

Corporation Commissioner R. Nanthagopal made the announcement on Tuesday following a survey of streets in Ward 85 (Zone 4).

The paver block paths will come up in several South Masi Street localities such as Rangachari Lane, Kamatchiamman Koil East and West Streets, Pacharasikara Street, Sethurammayyar Street and Rengasamy Street at an estimated cost of Rs.19 lakh.

In the West Masi Street area, paver block paths will be laid in Thulukkar Street, Kadalaikara Street, Kanakkupillai Street, Odhuvar First and Second Streets, and Perungudi Pallivasal Street on an outlay of Rs.18 lakh.

Velliambala Street, Nalla Thanneer Kenaru Street, N.N.M. Street, Mettukammalar First and Second Streets, and Keelchetty Street will follow suit at a cost of Rs.17 lakh.

Mr.Nanthagopal and his team enquired with the local people about the supply and quality of drinking water in these areas.
