Dharwad, October 15, 2013: Murugha Math seer Mallikarjun Swami has opposed the ‘Adda Pallakki’ ritual and urged religious heads to end it.

In a release issued here, the seer called the Adda Pallakki Utsav an inhuman act which violated human rights.

The seer said the practice of taking obeisance from persons dressed as twelfth century Sharanas like Basavanna and Akka Mahadevi was a disgrace to the social reformers.

Continuing meaningless rituals in the name of tradition was not befitting to religious heads, he opined. Taking exception to the offensive writings on twelfth century Sharanas like Basavanna in the book Sri Siddharama Charitre , the seer urged the State government to ban the book .
