Durga Devi Procession with Martial arts by youth and United Andhra Banners
Amalapuram, October 14, 2013: Konaseema area, which is simmering with Samaikyandhra agitation from last 73 days, did not take a break during Dasara festival also. The agitators reflected their anger and anguish over the bifurcation of State and constituting GoM as a follow-up to approval given to T-Note by Union Cabinet, by way of carrying banners of united State during the colourful festival here on Sunday night.
The tradition of taking out a procession of goddess Durga in different avatars from seven streets with a variety of dances, exhibiting martial arts, and bursting crackers in the backdrop of attractive illumination marked the final day of Dasara festival in Amalapuram. This was mixed with Samaikyandhra banners and slogans this year and the leaders of Konaseema JAC — V.S. Diwakar, Bandaru Rammohana Rao, Kalavakolanu Tataji — participated in the Dasara festival and also led 157-year old traditional martial arts ‘Chadi Talimkhana’.
The main procession was taken out in Mahipala Veedhi (Rajahamsa Vahanam), Nalla Veedhi (Goddess Kanakadurga), Gundu Veedhi (Seshasayana Vahanam), Ravanam Veedhi (Mahishasuramardini Devi), Konkapalli Veedhi (Gaja Vahana and Anjaneya Vahana), Sriramapuram (Hamsa Vahanam) and Ravanam Mallaiah Veedhi (Garuda Vishnu avataram). The special attraction during the procession was ‘Chadi Talimkhana'.
