Arrangements for Pilgrims reviewed at Sabarimala

Kottayam, October 14, 2013: The meeting called to review the arrangements for the ensuing Mandala-Makaravilakku season at Sabarimala has decided to ensure the quality of the coloured powder being used by the pilgrims during the ceremonial petta thullal at Erumeli.

The meeting directed the Pollution Control Board to take strict action against those who sell harmful chemical powder to the pilgrims.

Private parking space providers have been directed to charge only the same rate imposed by the Travancore Devaswom Board for the parking facility.

As per the decision a meeting of the private parking space providers would be called separately to unify the parking fees.

It has also been decided to construct a traffic island at the MES Junction near the town.

A suggestion has been made to construct a sewage plant to process the biodegradable waste.

Irrigation Department authorities informed the meeting that steps had been taken to minimise the road safety threat at key places like Orumkal Kadavu, Azhutha and Kanamala.
