Bangalore, October 13, 2013: The four-day celebrations of Dasara festival, organised by the South Bangalore Cultural Association, began on Thursday at the NGR Kalyana Mantapa here. Freedom fighter H.S. Doreswamy inaugurated the celebrations and released a souvenir of the association. Mr. Doreswamy recalled the contribution of Bengalis in the freedom struggle and also in the fields of culture and literature.

B.N. Vijayakumar, MLA, lauded the Bengali community and said two great Bengali poets Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and Rabindranath Tagore will remain in the hearts of Indians. The celebration will conclude on October 14 with the immersion of the Durga idol.
