Pathanamthitta, October 14, 2013: Saraswatipuja began in different parts of the district on the eve of Mahanavami day on Saturday. Elaborate arrangements have been made at various temples and institutions for the three-day Saraswatipuja as well as Vidyarambhom on the Vijayadasami Day on Monday. Children have placed their books, pens, pencils, geometrical boxes, and so on in front of Goddess Saraswati for puja as part of the celebrations. The Vidyarambhom ceremony at the Thrikkapaleeswara temple at Kannassapparambu at Niranom, near Thiruvalla, began on Friday evening. The three-day puja vaipu ceremony will come to a close with Vidyarambhom on the Vijayadasami Day on Monday. S. Harikrishnan, temple managing committee secretary, said the Vidyarambhom ceremony where children would be initiated into the world of letters would be held from 7 a.m. at the Kannassapparambu.
