Traditional Musical Programs in Brahmotsavam celebrations

Tirumala, October 12, 2013: Tirumala Brahmotsavams, the nine-day mega religious carnival, is not just about the daily processions of Lord on his celestial carriers, but also of immense importance to the music lovers, if the programmes being organised by the Tirumala Tirupati Davasthanam (TTD) management is any indication.

The temple administration has listed out a series of religious and cultural programmes at Tirumala and Tirupati. The programmes are held on a day-to-day basis at the TTD’s massive Asthana mandapam and Nadaneerajana mandapam at Tirumala and Mahati auditorium, Ramchandra Pushkarini and Annmachaya Kala Mandiram at Tirupati.

Unlike in the past, the Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP), the official organisers this year, have provided more space for religious discourses and traditional music events even though dance ballets also have been included.

While eminent violinist Padmasri U. Srinivas and Garimella Balakrishna Prasad have already rendered their performances on the auspicious Garuda Seva and the following day respectively, Padmashri Sobha Raj’s concert will be held during the Unjal Seva at the Unjal mandapam at Tirumala on Saturday evening.

Adding more flavour, Saraswathi Vidhyarthi of Visakhapatnam and Vijayalakshmi Mambalam, popularly known as Mambalam sisters, will sing on Saturday.
