Breaking Pumpkins and Coconuts on Ayudha Puja Day are not allowed by Police
Coimbatore, October 12, 2013: The Coimbatore Police has issued an order banning the residents of the city from breaking ash gourds and coconuts on the roads on Sunday as part of Ayudha Puja and Vijayadasami celebrations. Commissioner of Police A.K. Viswanathan said that the broken pumpkin posed a threat to two-wheelers who risked skidding on the pieces. Stringent legal action will be taken against those found violating this order, he said. Further, he also warned the shops against discharging the water used for cleaning their shops onto the roads.
