Cultural programs in Bathukamma festival celebrations

Khammam, October 9, 2013: Women performed ‘kolatam’ and other traditional dances as part of an impressive cultural programme organised by the District Cultural Council in connection with the ongoing Bathukamma festivities at Sri Gunti Malleswara Swamy temple in the town on Tuesday.

Clad in the traditional attire, the women presented a scintillating ‘kolatam’ dance performance much to the delight of the visitors who thronged the temple in large numbers in the evening. Children also danced to the rhythmic tunes of devotional songs in praise of Batukamma. Meanwhile, special pujas and rituals besides a host of devotional programmes were organised at Sri Lakshmi Tayaru temple in Bhadrachalam, Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple at Jamalapuram in Yerrupalem mandal and other main temples all over the district in connection with the ongoing Sarannavaratri celebrations.
