Cultural shows for Madikeri Dasara Celebrations from October 5

Madikeri, October 1, 2013: Several reputable cultural troupes from across the State are participating in the Madikeri Dasara cultural programmes beginning at the Gandhi maidan in Madikeri from October 5 to 14.

President of the Madikeri Dasara Cultural Committee H.T. Anil told presspersons in Madikeri on Monday that cultural shows would begin at the venue at 6.30 p.m. everyday. The dais is being named ‘Kala Sambhrama’ vedike. Troupes from Chitradurga, Belgaum, Udupi, Mangalore, Mysore, Bangalore, all parts of Kodagu and an artiste from Chennai had confirmed participation, Mr. Anil said.

Artiste Suresh from Chennai would perform ‘Karagattam’ at the venue on the opening day. He is a Limca Book or Record holder. ‘Lasya Ranjani’ team from Mysore and ‘Natyalaya’ from Virajpet would perform a variety of dances. Music programmes next would feature artistes, Nirmala Bopanna and party from ‘Ninada’ School and Cauvery Kodava Koota, Ponnampet.

‘Prabhat Kalavidaru’ would perform shows on October 6 such as ‘Punyakoti’ and ‘Mohini-Bhasmasura’ dance features followed by dance by the Mogera Samaja members and mime by cadets of Kudige Sainik School. The Venkateshwara team from Chitradurga would come up with ‘Lambani dance’.

The October 7 programmes would feature light music, ‘Hadu-Bhavagala Sanje’ by Muliya Life Skill Academy, cultural programmes by Sagar self-help group while Nitin Rajaram Shastri from Mysore would present music followed by light music by Shreya Bhat and Ashwini team, also from Mysore. The ‘Ganakala’ team from Madikeri would present light music on October 8, ‘Nrityagiri’ troupe from Mysore would present skit ‘Mallavva’, mime by special children from the Swastha School near Sunticoppa and cultural programmes by the artistes of ‘Inchara Vedike’, Madikeri.

Well known speaker and humour artiste Krishne Gowda from Mysore would perform on October 9. Sangeeta Balachandra from the Shruti Sagara Sangeeta Pratishtana would give light music performance in which Television artistes T. N. Seetaram and Malavika would take part, Mr. Anil said.

‘Makkala Dasara’ would take place at 10 a.m. on October 10 in which children shandy, ‘Mantap’ competitions, quiz programme, drawing competitions for class 5 to 10 students (at the Bal Bhavan) would be conducted. Special cultural programmes would be held at the Gandhi maidan at 6.30 p.m. involving children. Artiste Indurshee would present a ventriloquism act while Abhyuday and Abhiram brothers from Mangalore will perform ‘Yaksha Nritya’.
