Indore, September 29, 2013: The illegally-constructed main entrance gate to self-styled godman Asaram Bapu’s asharam here was demolished on Saturday by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC).

The action was initiated after the ashram authorities failed to produce a permission certificate for construction of the gate.

The MPRDC had issued a notice to the ashram a week ago, sources said.

“The entrance gate of the ashram was razed as it was raised without requisite permission,” sources added.

According to them, the gate was also affecting flow of traffic on the busy Indore-Khandwa road.

Asaram is in jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in his Jodhpur ashram.
