MP Siva Prasad sought the blessings of Yellamma Thalli
Chandragiri, September 26, 2013: With an intention of supporting the ‘human effort’ in the ongoing Samaikyandhra agitation, Chittoor MP N. Sivaprasad sought the blessings of Yellamma Thalli at Sri Moolasthanamma Yellamma Thalli temple in Chandragiri, here on Wednesday.
Mr. Sivaprasad paid obeisance to the goddess by carrying a ‘chapparam’ from local tower clock centre to the temple. He was led by his supporters who danced and played traditional music instruments all along the procession. They also donned special make-up and costumes on this occasion.
In Tirupati, teaching and non-teaching staff of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University went a step further by chewing on bales of hay at the varsity premises. According to the agitators, this metaphorical protest was to highlight the fate of Seemandhra people after State bifurcation.
About 50 members of Madiga Employees’ JAC took part in the relay hunger strike organised by Tirupati Employees’ JAC at Ambedkar statue near RTC bus stand.
Traditional music players expressed their solidarity with the protest by performing with their musical instruments at the venue.
Carrying forward with his trademark protest, YSR Congress Central Committee member and local MLA B. Karunakar Reddy made pots at the YSRC protest camp near TUDA circle.
Workers and employees of APSRTC joined the protest camp of BC JAC near Jyoti Rao Phule statue, while students and staff of Motherland School took part in the relay hunger strike organised by Tirupati Samaikyandhra JAC (SAPS) near the MCT office.
