Upadesa Sara Discourse

Visakhapatnam, September 23, 2013: Head of Chinmaya Mission Swami Tejomayananda will deliver a discourse on Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi’s ‘Upadesa Sara’ at Kalabharati auditorium for six days from September 23.

The Swami, who will visit the city after three years, will give the discourse daily from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There is no restriction on entry. ‘Upadesa Sara’ is one of the very few texts which Bhagavan had authored and is the essence of self-knowledge or Vedantic teachings, a spokesman for the mission told reporters. He said Ramana Maharshi was the very embodiment of divine virtues.

He said Swami Tejomayanandaji was a living portrait of simplicity with depth, humility with courage and wisdom with devotion. His discourse is illuminating yet entertaining, reflecting his progressive thinking in all his speeches.

The mission was opened in the city in 1997. It offers free medical service to the poor on every Sunday and conducts satsangs regularly at the mission located behind Visakha Eye Hospital in Peda Waltair. It conducts activities like Balavihar for children, Yuva Kendra for youth, study group for adults, Devi Group for women and conducts spiritual discourses called Gyana Yagnas by the resident acharya.
