Vellore, September 22, 2013: About 2,500 college students participated in a Bharat awareness rally taken out in connection with 150th anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda here on Saturday. Collector P. Sankar flagged off the rally at the Periyar Park.

The rally passed through Sepoy Mutiny Memorial, Old Bus Stand, Kripananda Variar Road and Filter Bed Road and returned to the park.

P. Karthiyayini, Mayor , V.D. Dharmalingam, Deputy Mayor, V.S. Vijay, Vellore MLA, M. Kalaiarasu, Anaicut MLA, S.R.K. Appu, president of the School Development Committee, G.V. Selvam, vice-president of VIT, participated in the rally. Students of D.K.M. College for Women, Arcot Sri Mahalakshmi College for Women, Narayani College of Nursing, VIT University, Annai Meera College of Engineering and Technology and Sri Krishna Engineering College participated in the rally.
