It is time for Kolu for Nav Ratri
Thanjavur, September 15, 2013: Come Navaratri, it is time for Kolu (exhibition of dolls) at home. But then preparation for Kolubegins well ahead. Every year people add new dolls to their collection. The Thanjavur Handicrafts Products Industrial Co-operative Society has been organising Navaratri Koluexhibition at Sangeetha Mahal (upstairs) in Palace Complex in the town. The display consists of variety of dolls in vibrant hues.
Seetha Kalyanam, Thiruppalli Ezhuchi set, Brahmotsavam, Padukai and Bharathan, Kanaiyazhi, Theemithi, Park set, Thiruvavinankudi, Arunagirinathar set, Pazhamuthirsolai set, Tiruchendur Linga puja, Ravanan Durbar, Azhagar Aaatril Iranguthal, Garudasevai set, Aandal Jananam, Sri Ranganathar, and Chakrathalwar are some of the dolls exhibited. Ten per cent discount is given for dolls purchased in the exhibition. The society exceeded the target in 2010-11 by managing a turn over of Rs. 45.54 lakh against the target of Rs. 35 lakh. During the year 2012-13, it achieved a turn over of Rs. 46.42 lakh against the target of Rs. 44 lakh. Sales to the tune of Rs. 14.68 lakh has been achieved till August 31, 2013.
