Pathanamthitta, September 14, 2013: The Travancore Devaswom Board has made elaborate arrangements for Sunday’s customary ceremonial procession carrying provisions for the Onasadya (feast) to be held at the Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy temple on the Thiruvonam day on Monday.

A Garuda-faced temple vessel, Thiruvonathoni, has been launched in the Pampa on Thursday in connection with the Onam festivities at the temple. As it being the custom for the past several decades, the Thiruvonathoni will set off to Kattoor, near Cherukol, on Sunday for transporting provisions, vegetables and other articles for the Onasadya. Narayana Bhattathiri, eldest member of the Brahmin family of Mangattu Illom at Kumaranalloor, near Kottayam, will lead the Thiruvonathoni procession escorted by a number of snake-boats from Kattoor to Aranmula on Sunday evening. The Thiruvonathoni will reach temple ghats in the early morning of Monday.
