Security increased in Kanyakumari
Nagercoil, September 13, 2013: The police have stepped up vigil in Kanyakumari district in view of the immersion of Vinayaka idols which will go on for three days from Friday. According to the police, a special control room has been set up to ensure the peaceful passage of idols through the routes permitted and immersion of idols in the places earmarked for the purpose by the district administration.
Police personnel have been asked to videograph the events across the district. As many as 1,200 personnel would be pressed into service to maintain law and order.
The idols installed by members of Shiv Sena in various parts of the district would be brought to Nagaraja Thidal and they would be taken to Kanyakumari for immersion via Kottar, Suchindrum Vazukkamparai and Kottaram.
