Vellore, September 11, 2013: Following the request from the Archaeological Survey of India, the Vellore district administration has removed the moat around the Vellore fort from the list of three water bodies identified in Vellore taluk for immersion of Vinayaka idols as part of the Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations. According to a release from the Collector of Vellore, in lieu of the moat, Sadupperi Eri (lake) has been identified for immersion of the idols in Vellore taluk.

The other two water bodies identified for immersion in the taluk are Ussoor Eri and Karugambuthur Eri.
