Devotees Throng Vinakaya Temples

Special abishekam and pujas at shrines marked the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations in Karur district on Monday. About 150 Ganesh idols have been kept for public darshan at street corners across the district.
Hundreds thronged Kutchery Vinayakar temple, Gandhigram Sakthi Vinayakar temple, Sri Kalyana Pasupatheeswarar temple, Sri Kalyana Vigirtheeswarar temple at Venjamangudalur, Palamalai Sri Muurgan temple, Vennamalai Murugan temple, and Pugazhimalai Sri Murugan temple. Hindu Munnani had erected special Vinayakar Chaturthi pandals at 105 places while other organisations had installed idols at 45 places across the district . Round-the-clock police protection has been provided to these pandals.
People made a beeline to the flower market since morning, and the rush pushed up flower prices. However, prices were comparatively lower than the previous day with respect to jasmine, arali, javandhi, vrikhi, sambangi, and panneer . Garlanded jasmine sold for Rs. 40 a yard and for Rs. 30 yard later in the day.
Flower vendors said that Vinayakar Chaturthi falling on muhurtham day was the reason for the spike in prices over the last two days.
PUDUKOTTAI: A large number of devotees thronged various temples in the town and offered worship to Lord Ganapathi on on Monday.
At Sri Bhuvaneswari Avadutha Vidhya Peetam, special abishekam was performed to Sri Panchamuga Vinayagar and devotees t offered prayers in droves.
In Ariyalur district, a large number of devotees offered worship to Sri Kanaga Vinayagar near Brahadeeswarar Temple in Gangaikondacholapuram.
In Perambalur, devotees visited Sri Madanagopalaswami Temple.
Offering a giant kozhukkattai weighing about 75 kg formed the highlight of the celebrations at Rockfort Sri Taayumanaswami Temple in Tiruchi city.
