Two group clashes in Nacharam about Ganesh Pandal
Hyderabad, September 7, 2013: Members of two communities clashed after one group allegedly dismantled a pandal erected in Old Nacharam village for Ganesh idol installation and indulged in stone pelting resulting in injuries to Malkajgiri ACP Ch. Radhakishan Rao and two constables.
Trouble had been brewing at Old Nacharam village over erecting the pandal as some residents of the area raised objection alleging that it was obstructing the path to their prayer hall. The local police held a meeting with elders of both the groups and they patched up after changes were made in giving way to the prayer hall. Meanwhile, one group allegedly pulled down sticks of the pandal in the evening triggering protests from other residents of the locality. By the time police rushed there, members of both the communities started hurling stones one against the other.
The ACP suffered a cut wound on his head while the two policemen were also hit by stones. Police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the two groups.
