Meeting for Smooth organization of Vinayaka Chaturthi procession
Krishnagiri, September 7, 2013: A meeting was organised here on Friday to ensure smooth conduct of Vinayaka Chathurthi idol processions in the district.
The meeting was presided by Krishnagiri Revenue Divisional Officer P. Manoharan.
Deputy Superintendent of Police M. Santhanapandian, Tahsildhar Valli, Inspectors of Police Stations in Krishnagiri division, leaders of Hindu Munnani, BJP, VHP and Muslim organisations participated. Mr. Manoharan sought their cooperation.
He appealed to the organisers of the Chathurthi celebrations not to install Vinayaka statues in new places other than the permitted ones.
The venue should have a ceiling with tin sheets, a five-member celebration committee should be present at the venue to protect the idol round the clock, and cone speakers should not be used.
Only devotional songs should be played, that too for an hour in the morning and evening with permissible sound level.
The idols should be taken only on the permitted route. Any music played in the processions should be stopped while passing through mosques and immersion of idols should be completed before September 13, Mr. Manoharan added.
The importance of inter-religious harmony and participation of members of other communities in the festival were also discussed.
The security arrangements to be made for the processions and the routes and installation of statues in the division were explained by the Deputy Superintendent of Police.
