Arrangements for Ganesh Idol immersion
Coimbatore, September 7, 2013: The district administration and the Pollution Control Board have requested the organisers of Chathurthi celebrations to avoid going in for Vinayaka idols made of baked clay and those made with chemicals to prevent pollution of water bodies.
In a joint release, District Environmental Engineer of TNPCB and the District Collector pointed out that of late there are idols made of clay and painted with chemical paints, thus, polluting the water bodies.
Hence, the request to the organisers that idols made of raw clay (not baked) and those without chemicals and chemical-based paints should alone be used for installation and immersion. In the event of violation of the fiat, strict action would be taken against the organisers.
In order to ensure smooth conduct and peaceful completion of the immersion process, a detailed schedule has been drawn up for immersion processions.
Immersion of idols at Muthannankulam will be on September 11 and 13, Ukkadam on September on 11, at the river in Mettupalayam on September 15,
Singanallur tank on September 9, 10 and 11, Sengulam on September 11 and 13, Kurichi tank on September 11, and at Noyyal river in Sulur, Samalapuram tank, Vellakinaru and Narashimmapuram on September 11. In Coimbatore rural, the immersion schedule is as follows: Bhavani river at Elagampalayam on September 9; Aliyar river in Anamalai on September 10; Thekkampatti, Pazhathottam, Elagamapalayam, and Mettupalayam in Bhavani river, Vellakinaru pond, Shamalapuram tank, and Nagarajapuram tank in Vadavalli, Chadivayal river in Alandurai, Walayar river in KG Chavadi, Aliyar river in Ambarampalayam, and Kedimedu canal in Komangalam on September 11; Thekkampatti Bhavani river on September 12 and at Nedumalai river in Valparai on September 15.
