APPCB to Sell Clay Ganesh Idols
Karimnagar, September 7, 2013: The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), which launched a campaign to encourage people to use eco-friendly clay idols during the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, will open special counters in Karimnagar and Ramagundam towns to sell clay idols on Sunday.
APPCB Ramagundam environmental engineer S. Shankar Naik said that 1,000 eco-friendly clay idols measuring 6 to 12 inches would be sold through the outlets in Karimnagar with the help of voluntary organisations. Another 2,500 idols will be sold in the Ramagundam coal belt area.

He said that they had also prepared 100 and odd big size Ganesh idols. The idols would be sold at 50 per cent subsidy.
He said that Singareni Collieries Company Limited had provided necessary support for making the huge and small size clay idols at its Eight Incline colony.
The local artisans used environmental friendly clay and water colours. He said that they also took out a procession with the students educating the people about the need to use clay idols to protect nature from pollution in the Ramagundam coal belt region on Friday.
