Tiruvarur, September 6, 2013: Tiruvarur district is known for its communal harmony and people of the district should strive to maintain this name, said S. Nadarajan, Collector, on Thursday. He held meeting with officials here regarding celebration of Vinayaka Chathurthi on September 9.

He said that the festival is celebrated peacefully every year and people from all religions extend their cooperation. Maheshkumar Kaliraj, Superintendent of Police, Jayalakshmi Ambigapathy, chairperson, Tiruvarur district panchayat council, Umamaheswari, chairperson, Thiruthuraipoondi municipality, R.K.P.Nadarajan, chairman, Muthupettai panchayat union, and religious leaders took part.
