Collector urges public to use clay Ganesh Idols
Srikakulam, September 6, 2013: Srikakulam Collector Saurabh Gaur on Thursday asked people to perform puja to Ganesh idols which were made from clay and eco-friendly material. He said that use of chemicals and plaster of Paris would be harmful to the environment. He visited Sri Satya Sai High School in APHB Colony and lauded the school management for taking out rallies to create awareness about the eco-friendly Ganesh idols.
The school principal M. Paparao told the Collector that all the teachers and students had been highlighting the importance of pollution free celebrations by meeting people in all the streets of the colony. The Collector said that the administration would also provide financial support to the organisations which would distribute clay Ganesh idols on the eve of Vinayaka Chaviti.
Geeta Srikanth Foundation head Geeta with the support of artist Harish organised an art gallery with eco-friendly Ganesh portraits. She said that use of chemicals would lead to water pollution and cause health hazards to people.
