The Vellore Collector appeals for Clay Ganesh Idols
Vellore, September 4, 2013: The Collector of Vellore has appealed to the public to use only clay idols for worship and immersion in waterbodies during the Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations on September 9.
In a release, the Collector urged the public to use and immerse clay idols alone and avoid immersion of idols painted with chemicals.
The Vellore district administration and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board have identified the following waterbodies in various areas for immersion.
Vellore: moat in Vellore fort, Ussoor Eri (tank) and Karugambuthur Eri; Ranipet: Thandalam Eri and Puliyanthangal Eri; Arcot: Arcot Eri and Veppur Eri; Sholinghur: Tirukkulam Eri; Arakkonam: Mangammapettai Eri and Maveru Eri; Gudiyatham: Nellorepettai Eri; Ambur: Sanrorkuppam Eri; Vaniyambadi: Palar River; Tirupattur: Ponneri Eri.
