Steel Hundial stolen from Subrahmanya Swami Temple
Erode, September 4, 2013: A stolen steel hundial of the Chennimalai Subramanya Swamy Temple was on Tuesday found abandoned about one km. from the famous shrine, shocking devotees and police alike.
Police said a theft of such a daring nature had occurred for the first time. According to the complaint preferred by the temple's executive Officer, the hundial was broken open and an estimated Rs. 1.5 lakh had been taken away.
Chennimalai police are investigating how the miscreants had managed to bring down the hundial from the hill-top temple in the vicinity of which construction was in progress for the impending 'kumbabishekam'.
