Jaipur, September 3, 2013: Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, was sent to judicial custody for 14 days by a court in Jodhpur on Monday.

The police declared that 72-year-old Asaram was medically fit. They said there was a “very strong” case against him. He was later taken to the Jodhpur Central Jail amid heavy security.

Before boarding the police van, he told his supporters to “be patient...do meditation...everything will be alright.” Police officials in Jodhpur said that “during the investigation, the allegations levelled against him were found to be true.”
