Ariyalur, September 3, 2013: The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has identified three places in the district for immersion of idols of Lord Vinayaka in connection with the Vinayakar Chathurthi festival. They are Marudhaiyar in Ariyalur area, Coleroon river in Tirumanur and Coleroon river Anaikarai in Jayamkondam. An official press release appealed to the public to use idols made of clay that re devoid of any chemicals. Immersion of idols coated with paint in water bodies should be avoided, the release said.
