Temple Idols stolen
Kancheepuram, September 2, 2013: Two ancient panchaloha idols were reported stolen from Sri Rajagopalaswamy temple, Manimangalam, near Tambaram on Friday. According to police, the Manimangalam police received a complaint from A.S. Jayaraman (60) of Agraharam Street, Manimangalam on Friday night stating that two idols – around 2.50 feet high Vaikunthaperumal idol and around 2 feet high Bhoodevi idol – were found missing from the temple precincts. In his complaint, he had stated that the stolen idols, which belonged to another temple – Vaikunthaperumal temple in the same area — have been kept in Sri Rajagopalaswamy temple.
