Dharmapuri, September 2, 2013: Three persons were arrested for installing an idol of Goddess Vekkaali Amman on a Boodhan land in Dharmapuri. According to police sources, Palani (47) of Yemakuttiyur near Dharmapuri erected the 80-ft-tall statue of Vekkali Amman at a cost of Rs. 1 crore along with Murugan (31) and Muthu (37) of Dharmapuri. This was opposed by the members of the Boodhan Movement.

The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by Manjunathan of Boodhan Movement. The arrested were remanded in judicial custody.
