Lot of events for Krishnastami across the City

Visakhapatnam, August 27, 2013: With a host of temple authorities coming together to organise Krishna Janmashtami in grand way, the city will witness day-long celebrations on Wednesday.

The festivities begin at 6:30 a.m. at Hare Krishna Movement where the organisers plan to celebrate the day at Alwar Das Grounds at MVP Colony. ‘Pratah abhishekam’ (6:30 a.m.), ‘shrungara arati’ (7:30 a.m.), ‘jhulan seva’ (9 a.m.), ‘mahabhishekam’ (10 a.m.), ‘sangeeta seva’ by Chaitanya Brothers (11 a.m.), ‘mangala arati’ (12 p.m.) and distribution of prasadam are lined on Wednesday. ‘Sangeeta seva’ and ‘nritya seva’ are also scheduled at the venue on Thursday.

The three-day celebrations of Janmashtami at ISKCON will continue till Thursday with a row of competitions apart from cultural events. On Wednesday, the contests at the venue include flower decoration (9 a.m.), rangoli (10:30), butter pot breaking (4 p.m.), sweet dish preparation (4:30 p.m.), fancy dress contest (5 p.m.), solo dance (6:30 p.m.), group dance (8 p.m.) and drama (9 p.m.).

Radha Damodar jhulan yatra and Janmashtami celebrations will continue till September 13 on the premises of Sri Krishna Chaitanya Gurukulasramam at Lawsons Bay Colony. Special programme on Wednesday are scheduled as ‘nagara sankeeratan’ (5 a.m.), recital of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam (8:30 a.m.), ‘bhoga-arathi’ (12 p.m.), mass recital of slokams (3 p.m.), sankeertan of mahila devotees (5 p.m.), ‘vedaparayanam’ (8 p.m.) followed by bhajans.
