Collector’s appeal to public to use Raw Clay Idols for Ganesh
Thiruvarur, August 27, 2013: District Collector S.Natarajan has appealed to the people of the district to use Vinayaka idols that are made of raw clay (not baked) without using any chemical colours for immersing in water bodies.
In a press release issued here on Monday, the Collector said that Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board has advised people to avoid idols painted with chemical colours. Immersion should also be done 500 meters into the sea, he said. People of Tiruvarur should immerse the idols in Odampokkiar and those in Muthupettai in Baminiyar.
