Vijayawada, August 26, 2013: Commissioner of Police B. Srinivasulu has said it is mandatory to obtain prior permission from the police for organising the Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations. The organisers need to obtain permission from Municipal Corporation, electricity and fire services departments before seeking the police permission. They will be required to clearly state the details such as height and weight of idol, place, number of days of celebrations and vehicle used for immersion. The filled in applications should be submitted at the unified police service centre on or before September 1. The permission would be accorded before September 5, he added.
