Kadapa, August 22, 2013: Peace and happiness will prevail in society with spiritual awakening, Assistant Commissioner of Endowments G. Mallikarjuna Prasad said on Wednesday.
‘Sudarshana Kankana dhaarana utsavam’ was conducted on Sravana Pournami in Mana Gudi programme from August 8 to 21, organised by TTD, Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad and Endowments Department. Mana Gudi programme was undertaken to enlighten the present generation on the significance of Hindu temples, dharma and devotion and promote peace, the Assistant Commissioner said.
32 temples covered
Sudarshana Kankana dhaarana was conducted in 32 temples including Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple at Devunikadapa, Sivalayam in Mochampet, Ahobila Narasimha Swamy Math and Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devi temple in Kadapa, Sri Narapura Venkateswara Swamy temple at Jammalamadugu, Sri Soumyanatha Swamy temple at Nandalur, Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta, Athirala temple at Rajampet, Sri Veerabhadra Swamy temples at Alladupalle and Rayachoti, Sri Bhimalingeswara Swamy temple at Mydukur, Sri Agasteswara Swamy temple at Proddatur and temples in Dalitawadas in Kadapa district.
Hindu culture and traditions would be preserved through Mana Gudi programme, he said.
The Assistant Commissioner said salaries of archakas and assistance of Rs. 2,500 to temples for dhoopa, deepa naivedyam etc. would be disbursed promptly every month.
Additional Joint Collector M. Sudarshan Reddy participated in Sudarshana Kankana dhaarana programme along with his family members in Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple in Devunikadapa. Vedic pandits Matcha Venkata Seshacharyulu, Mandadi Krishnaiah Sarma, Narasimhan and Vijaya Sarma performed poojas. DPP organiser Mallu Venkata Reddy, temple committee chairman Kota Narasinga Rao, temple inspector Easwar Reddy, DPP member Eturu Ramachandra Reddy and others participated in the programme.
