The Kaanda Rishi Tharpanam
Kottayam, August 21, 2013: The Kaanda Rishi Tharpanam ceremony being held as part of the Avani Avittom celebrations at Kottayam Brahmana Samooha Madom on Tuesday. An important day for Brahmins it is called Upakarmam in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and parts of Orissa. The holy or sacred thread which the men wear is changed on this day.
