Some Anxious moments in Tirumala

Tirumala, August 21, 2013: TTD staff members were subjected to anxious moments on Tuesday night when a devotee jumped the security barrier and attempted to forcibly enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple even as the ‘maha laghu darshan’ was in progress.

The temple staff caught the intruder even before he could proceed further. During maha laghu, devotees are allowed to have darshan from a distance of about 60 feet. When contacted, TTD chief vigilance and security officer G.V.G. Ashok Kumar said the devotee was handed over to the local police who were verifying his antecedents. According to enquiries, he was identified as Murugan (30), a native of Madhavamalai of Katpadi in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. Mr. Kumar said the police did not recover any hazardous articles from Murugan.
