Madurai, August 18, 2013: A ‘1008’ Thiruvilakku puja was organised at Manna Thirumalai Naicker College here on Friday.

According to a press statement from the college, the puja was performed to bring peace and prosperity to the universe. Lalitha Prajna, chief doctor, Department of Bio-Ophthalmology in Aravind Eye Hospital, and R. Sheela Devi, headmistress, Poolankulam Primary School, presided over the puja. Priests from the Sundarar Subramaniaswamy Temple at Tiruparankundram chanted sacred hymns for the puja, which was attended by 1008 students from Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College, Sourashtra College for Women, faculty members and local woment.
