Thiruvananthapuram, August 17, 2013: The Malayalam month of Chingom begins on Saturday, heralding the typically joyful Onam weather of sparkling sun and bursts of pleasant rain.

The Meteorological Centre here said on Friday the monsoon was weak over the State and would remain that way for some days. Its director K. Santhosh said the influence of a low pressure that was now in position over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal would be there on the weather in Kerala during this period. Isolated places in the State might receive heavy rainfall.
