Jewels, Hundial Collections Burgled from Kattukollai Temple
August 14, 2013: Jewels and hundial collections were stolen from the Kaliamman Temple and Perumal Temple at Kattukollai village near Ambur on Monday night.
According to police, when priest Dakshinamoorthy went to open the Kaliamman Temple on Tuesday morning, he was shocked to find the lock broken and the door open. When he went inside, he found that a three-sovereign ‘thali’ adorning the neck of the deity and a half-kg silver crown were missing. The hundial was also found broken and cash contributions stolen.
Similarly, the hundial of the Perumal Temple was also broken and collections stolen. The total value of the stolen jewels and cash is estimated at Rs. 1 lakh.
