Worshipping the ‘Snake Gods’
Kadapa, August 11, 2013: Nagula Chaturthi was celebrated by women and men by offering prayers at snake pits and offering milk to the “Nagadevathalu” on Saturday.
A large number of women and men devotees offered silk sarees, milk, flowers, fruits, turmeric and kumkum, lit incense sticks, broke coconuts and paid obeisance to the snake Goddess in Kadapa and other parts of the district. They offered pradakshina and prayed for the elimination of Sarpa dosha to them and their family members.
They later prayed at Sri Rajarajeswari Devi temple near the municipal stadium and took theertham and prasadam. Large number of devotees also thronged the snake pits in the Cooperative Colony, Zilla Parishad premises and other places.
