Shravana Sukravaram: Women Throng Temples
Ongole, August 10, 2013: Continuing the glorious cultural tradition, women in large numbers thronged ‘Ammavari’ temples on Friday to perform special poojas to the mother goddess on the auspicious ‘Sravana Sukravaram’.
Beautifully decorating their houses, women in their new clothes and choicest gold ornaments offered prayers to mother goddess seeking health, wealth and prosperity for themselves and their families.
Taking holy waters from the picturesque Rangarayuducheruvu, hundreds of women guided by vedic priests performed special poojas at the shrine of Mahalakshmi at the Chennakeshavaswamy temple.
Pious women also visited the ‘Goshala’ near the Court Centre to perform pooja to the ‘Kamadhenu’ (mother cow) on the auspicious occasion.
According to a legend, Charumathi and other women performed pooja on the first Friday before full moon to the mother goddess who blessed them all the best things in life.
